Top 5 Places to Cycle in SG!

Do you often find yourself staring at the computer screen? Do you experience dry or fatigued eyes? Do you have trouble focusing? Well, guess what, it’s time for a break! Visit these spectacular landscapes right in our homeland that provide an unparalleled opportunity to get a good intermission! The following are the top five places recommended to cycle in Singapore.

1. Jurassic Mile

This newly established 3.5km Changi Airport Connector allows you to skate, jog, walk and cycle to Changi Airport’s Jewel as well as its terminals from East Coast Park or any Park Connector Network (PCN). It lodges the city’s massive permanent outdoor exhibit of life-sized dinosaurs. Additionally, a pit-stop with amenities, Hub&Spoke, is accommodated as well! Amenities such as toilets and showers are available there. Moreover, there is a picturesque cafe named Hub&Spoke where you can stop by to quench your thirst and even take some Instagram-worthy shots.

You can rent your bicycle here from GoCycling.

Note: Hub&Spoke is not halal-certified by MUIS, so dine at your own discretion

2. Northern Eastern Riverine Loop

This 26km trail encompassing Punggol, Buangkok, Sengkang, and Lorong Halus Wetland, is a captivating and enjoyable path for cycling. Being the first eco-town of Singapore, the North Eastern Riverine Loop enables you to encounter a variety of wildlife such as horses and herons! Although it is fairly distant from the main city, it gratifies both cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers.

3. Southern Bump

The Southern Bump Track, one of the most demanding cycling tracks, is suitable for gung-ho cyclists. It consists of a route filled with small yet sharp hills including a slope as high as 17% on Vigilante Drive — Singapore’s sharpest gradient. Keep your fingers prepared at the brakes for this route as you wouldn’t want to be rolling back two metres for every metre travelled up on Mount Faber. An astonishing sight of lush greenery can also be seen from atop Henderson Waves and Forest Walk. Although challenging, this track is worth a try!

Grab your camera along for some extensive shots upon entering the Kallang Basin. Ride through Kallang River by crossing the legendary Helix Bridge before you turn back at the flyover above the river near Kallang MRT. Then head back towards the skyscrapers, passing by Esplanade and finishing at the iconic Merlion. Dwindle the night away by heading up to the Esplanade roof for the Marina Bay Sands Light Show.

5. Western Adventure Loop

The Western Adventure Loop artfully integrates amusement as well as adventure, as cyclists explore this luxuriant 12km long trail and the diversification of nature parks and quarries that fall en route. Starting at Choa Chu Kang Park, you can ride along the waterway at the Pang Sua Park Connector, where you might locate the White-Bellied Sea Eagle and the Pacific Swallow. The track will then bring you to Bukit Panjang Park Connector and Zhengua Park, before proceeding through the Dairy Farm Nature Park, where cyclists frequently halt at the Singapore Quarry to take pictures of the tremendous cliff overlooking the magnificent lake. Finally, the beaten path will guide you to Bukit Batok Nature’s Park, where you can discover orchids, the WWII Memorial Site, Little Guilin and the Quarry Pond. Though the journey through this route is relatively arduous as you face rough terrains, it ultimately adds to the enjoyment and adventure of riding on this path.
