Have you been feeling cooped up at home recently? For nearly two years, we have been stuck in Singapore, forced to see the same old places around us. Despite the new Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) opening up, ticket prices are rocketing sky high due to the increased demand. How can we overcome this then? First, we made our way to Bali, Indonesia. Oh, how we missed the tropical vibes of Bali. In the heart of Fort Canning, lies Sang Nila Utama Garden. The minute you enter this garden, you will be transported to a world of healthy green foliage much like those you can find on the island of Bali. The architectural characteristics of the garden mimic the Golden Gates of Heaven in Ubud, Bali.

From Bali, we travelled all the way to Japan. What a change of scenery. A beautiful change though. Amongst the private properties in Yio Chu Kang, there is a special landmark that many do not know of. The Japanese Cemetery not only holds many tombs of respectable Japanese who lost their lives during and after World War 2, but it also houses beautiful flower arches. Standing under one definitely makes us feel like we are in a fairytale.

Now that we’ve seen Japan, let us go somewhere further away. The country is famous for its maple syrup. You’ve guessed it - Canada! Now, this place is slightly more secluded compared to the rest. Seletar North Link, located at the edge of Punggol, features a canal that looks exactly like the Liard River in Canada. The views here are absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, when we reached Seletar North Link, it started raining which explains the gloominess in the photos. Hence, we advise you to check the weather before making your way!

Finally, let’s make our way to our last destination - the land down under. The Raffles Marina Lighthouse at the edge of Singapore definitely gives off the same vibes as Bradley’s Head in Sydney. The journey to Raffles Marina Lighthouse might be long, but the views are definitely worth it. We highly recommend that you visit the lighthouse either during sunrise or sunset though! Just imagine the stunning landscape.

Despite the rain, that did not stop us from enjoying our time travelling all over Singapore to these places which, although momentarily, remind us of our favourite destinations overseas. Nothing can top beautiful sceneries with the right company! Hopefully, these places are able to fill even just a little bit of that wanderlust void amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic.
Because it definitely felt like we travelled the world in one day.
